I would like to think I can find anything on the Internet so here's my attempt to find a picture of Karen Owen, the Duke University 2010 graduate who is the alleged writer of the Duke University F List Thesis. Apparently, Karen Owen did not intend to publish her Powerpoint thesis and forwarded to a friend for "private viewing" -- and now with the viral nature of the Internet, it is no longer "private".

The other day I heard the term, Generation Jones and had to look it up on Wikipedia. Apparently, it was a term coined by Jonathan Pontell to describe people born between 1954 and 1965. According to Wikipedia, "Jonesers were given huge expectations as children int eh 1960s, and then confronted with a different reality as they came of age int he 1970s, leaving them with a certain unrequited, jonesing quality."

No Band-Wades - No Flying Hawks

Okay NBA Commissioner David Stern, you banned the Band-Wades (Dwayne Wade's Signature Band-aid), now it's time to Ban The Hawk! I can't believe NBA Official Dan Crawford expected the players to play on during a NBA Playoff game with the hawk flying around. Also, at one point when the hawk was sitting on top of the backboard, I recollect one of the NBA officials was going to throw the basketball at the hawk, however I believe it was Jermaine O'Neal of the Miami Heat that helped to prevent that from happening. Is it possible that O'Neal is a golfer and knows the story of Pro golfer Tripp Isenhour that was charged with cruelty to animals for killing a hawk with a golf ball.

Okay Mr. Stern, when the Miami Heat return to Atlanta for game 5, it's time for the NBA to step in and ban the hawk.

Bank of America Telegraphic Wire Transfer Phishing Email - How to Report

Sometimes I receive spam and phishing emails that are so outright egregious that I feel the need to report it. Here are the steps I use.

1. I view the message header of the email and copy it. To view it in Microsoft Outlook, click View, Options then select all and copy the text in the Internet Headers text box.

2. In Microsoft Outlook, Click Forward and paste the Email Address Internet Header into the top of the email.

3. I will redact the By XXX, the name of my Internet Mail server in some circumstances such as this one in which I am posting the message header to the public Internet. In most cases, I will leave it as is.

4. I go to a WhoIs Database Search site such as: http://www.arin.net/whois/ and http://wq.apnic.net/apnic-bin/whois.pl (IPs in Asian Pacifict and view the IP address owner and email contacts for Received From (66.155.32.42) and the Received from User: (124.42.122.163). I find the email contacts and add them in the To: field of my email.

5. I view the ReplyTo: field and find the email address that the Phisher wants to receive information from. In most cases, by the time you report it, the email is already deleted by the ISP, but I normally would not attempt to send an email to it. In this case, it’s a Gmail site so I’ll file a Gmail Email Abuse report at:

6. Finally, I will add spam@uce.gov, the United States Federal Trade Commission email address for reporting spam. I’m sure what they do with it, but at the very least it make me feel good each time I send a spam email there.

I attended last night's Miami Heat Exhibition game versus Detroit. I searched around the Internet today and saw very few videos, blogs or ESPN/NBA.com coverage of the game, even the MiamiHeat.com website.

Okay, yes it's only an exhibition game but after last season, I like may loyal Miami Heat fans was anxious to see some of our new players. The player that impressed me the most was Mario Chalmers, the rookie guard from Kansas.

After D-Wade intercepts the ball, he passes to Chalmers among several Pistons, who starts the break near mid-court, finds Wade on the right side who takes the ball just inside the three point line and brings it down for a thundering dunk.

With seconds remaining before halftime, Spokestra calls timeout and calls a play. Wade takes the ball and as the Detroit defense collapses, he dishes to Chalmers in the corner who shoots three and it is all net.

Overall, Miami has not had a point guard with Chalmer's ball handling skills and defense for sometime. Okay, he had several turnovers but he also had 2 steals. He picked one of the Piston's guards clean toward the end fo the game. He's a rookie, but in my opinion, he already looks comfortable on the floor. He'll make mistakes this season but with his play last night, I think Miami Heat Fans can look forward to seeing their new point guard play. Lastly, it's also nice to see D-Wade not have to worry about taking the ball up the court. With Marcus Banks, Quinn and now Shaun Livingston, there is is plenty of true point guards on the Miami roster.

I recently received a notice from Dinah Peterson, Credit & Collections Manager for Florida Travel & Life at www.floridatravellife.com - to the best of my knowledge, I did not subscribe to this magazine. The notice I received does not have their telephone number but their web address only. Their website does appropriately list their phone number 866-836-7885 but it would not be too difficult to think or "allege" that this might be a deceptive direct mail campaign. According to the customer service rep, they received a mail in subscription request on July 14, 2008. I have had a subscription to other national travel magazines and it sure sounds problematic. I really think these companies should be required to put a phone number on these bills or direct mail pieces and if they are buying a list and automatically subscribing me, that would be a horrible thing to do.

BTW, the invoice is for 21 issues for $19.97.
